Russell County, Alabama

About Russell County

Russell County, Alabama was created by an act of the Alabama General Assembly on December 18, 1832 and was named for Colonel Gilbert C. Russell, a military officer in the Creek Wars. The county seat is Phenix City, a community rich in history and cultural connections.
